The video features the 37-year-old in a ‘Fight Club’ scenario. “I do love the symbolism of fighting,” Lewis told Spinner. “The art of it, taking your hits, taking your licks, getting up again – it’s a central theme to me as an artist, especially being a crossover act, coming from film into rock ‘n’ roll. This is the first time we touch upon that uphill battle.” Watch it below.

Juliette Lewis talks to NME about the demise of The Licks and the evolution of The New Romantiques at SXSW 2009 in Austin. “The thing with The Licks was that I was always trying to keep it on the road,” she said. “Making records was secondary, so even the records we made, they were okay, but they were always better as a live band. So this is the first time I wanted to really take my time, and the only thing is the music has to be fueled by crazy passion and inspiration. If other people around you don’t have that, I can’t try to inspire everybody, that’s not my job. My job is just to be a songwriter.” Watch the interview via YouTube below.
Juliette Lewis of Juliette and the Licks spoke with her bandmates about her encounter with a drunken and coked up guy in a hotel lobby as she was checking e-mails. Right now we’ve been writing songs that I’m really excited about. Then I’m also gonna make a movie real quick.” Lewis said the movie is called ‘Whip It’, which is Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut and casts her as a roller derby girl. Juliette Lewis of Juliette and The Licks checked in on the band’s MySpace blog on Monday (December 31) with the following New Year’s Resolution message:
Wipe the slate clean if that’s what you feel you need to do. Quit drugs. Finish the argument. Be fearless. Be patient. Eat more avocados or cherry tomatoes. Love the land you live near. Go hiking. Play with babies. Kiss your mom. Hug your dad. Call people far away. Appreciate your neighbor. Visit another country. Play more music. Learn a new instrument. Start sentences with “ya know what I love?” instead of “ya know what I hate?”.
Do things passionately but with compassion for others. Be decisive in action. End old habits that keep you up at night. Look at what you have instead of what you want. Life is in you to be lived, given to others and nurtured. Ride a skateboard. Quit being so precious with time. Throw away old things you’ve kept for too long. Talk to the living. Commune with nature. Seek connection. Communicate.
As always be loud and be proud!
