Uneven Strokes

Dan Aquilante of the New York Post reviewed The Strokes Wednesday night concert, which was the Central Park SummerStage season opener. Aquilante writes, “Considering it was an open-air concert, the sound was terrific, delivering [singer Julian] Casablancas’ vocals clearly even when they were purposely pushed through with distortion. His gruff tones belie the fact that he’s an excellent rock vocalist. Casablancas sings with the kind of passion that says he isn’t performing by rote but is affected by the emotions in the lyrics he wrote.” The full review at nypost.com has since been removed.
