U2 Win Grammy For ‘Vertigo’
U2 took home Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards for ‘Vertigo’. Upon accepting the honor, The Edge said, “This is for my little daughter Sian.” Sian was recently diagnosed with leukemia and is being treated in Dublin. Frontman Bono added, “This is genuinely surprise. I thought Green Day. The Killers. They’re incredible, Franz Ferdinand are going to kill this country. I think this is the best Ggrammys we’ve ever seen. (Applause) I’ve ever seen. Anyone else want to say anything? Larry, you want to say anything? Thank you. Larry Mullen, Jr.” The drummer said, “Somebody might know, we nearly weren’t going to be able to play live tonight and we didn’t think we were going to be able to play live for the rest of the year. And live is where we live. And, you know, due to circumstances beyond our control a lot of our long suffering fans ended up queuing overnight and didn’t get tickets. And I’d just like to take this opportunity on behalf of the band to apologize to them and thanks for this.”
