The Vines Approach ‘Winning Days’ Differently

Local heroes The Vines are on the cover of Australia’s Beat magazine this week. Asked how the band approached their sophomore album ‘Winning Days’ compared to their debut ‘Highly Evolved’, bassist Patrick Matthews responded, “We had more time to concentrate on this one. [Singer Craig Nicholls] was over-prepared for the first one and he was even more prepared for harmony parts. This record is a bit more layered with its sound and band had more time to get everything exactly as we wanted. When we were practicing to go overseas for the first record, as time went on, we were getting stressed about doing the record when we should have been getting everything right. We weren’t nervous, the band unity was just strained before we went over.”
