With the Strokes getting constant attention for frontman Julian Casablancas’ notorious benders, the rest of the group’s notorious partying and Fab Moretti’s metamorphosis into tabloid fodder because of girlfriend Drew Barrymore, the group is living under a microscope. Guitarist Nikolai Fraiture says that the band just ignores it all and hopes not to end up a group of Nigel Tufnels. “After all the hype we got on that first album, there was a big trap for us to fall into,” he tells Jeff Inman of Las Vegas CityLife. “But we didn’t want to do that. We just want to do right by us and hope it all works out. We try not to worry about or regret anything, even when everyone’s watching, and hopefully we won’t fu** it up. We just don’t want to get caught in those clichés we all learned from Spinal Tap.” The full story at lasvegascitylife.com has since been removed.
