The Sober Truth: Chili Peppers Keep Getting Better
Bob Gendron of the Chicago Tribune reviewed The Red Hot Chili Peppers concert Friday at Tweeter Center. He writes, “Performing a set that drew heavily from 1999’s ‘Californication’ and last year’s superb ‘By the Way,’ the Peppers balanced their trademark funk and spastic rhythms with lush melodies and soothing empathy. The band’s customary high energy was on display from the start. Bald and shirtless, Flea hopped, whirled, and tumbled while slapping slackened notes from his rubber-band-factory bass. Vocalist Anthony Kiedis caught the same bug, skipping, jumping and cartwheeling about the stage when he wasn’t needed at the mike.” Chicagotribune.com has since removed the article.
