The Maccabees Shake “Landfill Indie” Tag

spoke with The Guardian about their mayhem filled Brighton Concorde gig six years ago, feeling the “landfill indie” tag was undeserved, recording with the Dodworth Colliery Band, recording with Roots Manuva, and more.

“We wanted him to play with us at Brixton Academy,” guitarist Felix White said about the Roots Manuva collaboration, but the British hip hop artist wasn’t receptive. “He said, ‘Brixton? Last time I was there I saw the Police’. I said ‘That must have been a while back?’ He said, ‘No, the Metropolitan Police’.”
