The Kills’ Hince On Why They Ignored Early Audiences

guitarist and studio whiz Jamie ‘Hotel’ Hince spoke with Australia’s ‘Time Off’ magazine and agreed with criticism that on the band’s first tour of Australia in 2003, they ignored the audience and played just to each other. “We were a new band and there was some hype about us,” he explained. “We didn’t trust the audiences, in case they were just coming to see a new band. But these days we have diehard fans. Once you’re in a room with people singing along, it’s like a family.”
