took home Best New Artist in a Video at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards for ‘Mr. Brightside’. Upon accepting the honor, the Las Vegas band told the Miami crowd, “Hello, everybody. I think we just made history because Snoop Dogg just gave the — gave a video award. We’re pretty happy about that. We’re going to thank some people. We’re very happy. … Wow, this is great. We’ve got such a long list of people, you know. I think we’d all like to thank our families and the people in our lives, people at the label like L.A. Reid and Rob Stevenson, the purveyor of dreams, Braden Marrick, Bobby Ray Reynolds and Jeff Saltzman, who recorded this record as a demo and turned out to be all right, I guess. The illustrious and praise wortht. … Lauren and the bagel. … And I guess most of all the fans of the world. Thank you very much.”
