The Donnas Feel They Have To Educate

“We’re just regular people playing music,” Allison ‘Donna R.’ Robertson of the Donnas tells the Richmond Times Dispatch, acknowledging that many people focus on the fact that the members of the band are women. The attention the receive for being all female rockers, while understandably tiresome, is something The Donnas take seriously. “There are still people every day that I feel like we have to educate,” she says. “It’s a weird responsibility – you shouldn’t have to have it, but when you’re a girl band, you just have it.”
