Trevor Phipps Talks About Touring With Kerrang!

Kerrang! joined Unearth frontman Trevor Phipps backstage at London’s Barfly for a discussion about all things metal. Trevor said it was one of their smaller shows before a crowd of 200, which they try to do once in a while since it’s funner for them and the audience. Asked how the UK response has been to their new album ‘The March’, Trevor said, “It’s been good. I would like them to know it more though, that’s why we’re on this tour.” He says while they have “serious lyrics”, it’s not serious on stage and concertgoers should have fun at their shows. Unearth Balance Struggle And Hope On ‘The March’

Unearth drummer Derek Kerswill spoke with Beat magazine about the group’s latest album ‘The March’, and the message the metalcore band tried to achieve with their fourth release. “The inspiration and spark for this record happened to be the balance between struggle and hope,” he explained. “You feel the tension in some of the struggle aspects of the record, but the resolution of it – where you feel comfort and that things are going to be okay – that’s something we consciously set out to do. Especially in the States, people are felling held down and debilitated by their financial status, by the selfishness of our parents’ generation who have fu**ed things up for us. We need to maintain some sort of hope that we’re going to make a difference.”
