Sources tell In Touch Weekly that Renee Zellweger and her boyfriend Jack White’s bandmate in The White Stripes and ex-wife Meg are friendly, but it is a little awkward for the actress. “Renee keeps a watchful eye on Jack’s relationship with Meg,” the source revealed. “They actually get along very well, but it is a bit unusual – even in Hollywood.”
White Stripes rockers Meg and Jack White have branched out into the movie biz. Jack’s already done the Civil War flick ‘Cold Mountain’, and the duo currently appear in ‘Coffee and Cigarettes’, the new indie by director Jim Jarmusch. Even so, Jack insisted in an interview with TV Guide Online that all this big-screen dabbling isn’t an effort to boost their celeb status. “I hate that word,” he says adamantly. “A love for celebrity is very empty. There are all these people talking about Paris Hilton, and there is really nothing going on there. She’s not really doing anything — it is fake celebrity. But people want that and people strive for that, and I’ve never wanted that.”

Barry Walsh of slant magazine spoke with the Von Bondies drummer Don Blum about whether there was any lingering fallout from bandmate Jason Stollsteimer’s fracas with the White Stripes frontman Jack White. Blum said he hadn’t encountered anything yet. “It’s hard for me to gauge the reaction to it,” he admitted. “So far a lot of people I’ve talked to say they’re fans of both bands and it hasn’t affected them too much. I view rock n’ roll as being about a lot of different things, including conflicts and feuds—kind of like hip-hop. I think it’s all interesting but I don’t take it too seriously.” Read more.
The Toronto Star reports that on Saturday night (Marcch 27), Renee Zellweger, in town to shoot ‘Cinderella Man’, dined with White Stripes singer Jack White across the street from Opus on Prince Arthur. The pair left their Yorkville hotel five feet apart and kept their distance walking up Prince Arthur. After dinner, they waited for a large group of people to leave and merged with them, White bolting down the stairs first. The duo then proceeded down Prince Arthur a foot or two apart and entered the hotel briskly and separately.
BBC News reports White Stripes singer Jack White has admitted assaulting Jason Stollsteimer of the Von Bondies in a plea deal that means he will not have to go to jail.
White pleaded guilty to assault and battery in court in Detroit, Michigan – a lesser charge than the original allegation of aggravated assault. He must now pay a $500 fine plus $250 for court fees and take anger management classes. Read more.
A source tells Star magazine Renee Zellweger and Jack White of the White Stripes are talking about getting married. A source revealed that while White was doing a photo shoot in New York City on February 19th, Renee “just showered him with attention, fussing over him the whole time. It’s clear who’s in charge of that relationship – and it’s not Renee. She said, ‘Jack keeps me in line, and I love it!’ They were talking openly about marriage, and Renee said, ‘Part of me does want to get married as badly as Bridget Jones’.”

Top of the Pops reports that according to the tabs, Renee Zellweger intends to ask Jack White of the White Stripes to marry her. A spy revealed, “Renee has been looking at diamond rings in London and Los Angeles and has told pals she feels ready to settle down. Plus she feels that because it’s a Leap Year, it’s more than acceptable for the woman to ask the man to marry her, rather than the other way round.”
