Joe Beck of The Spill Canvas took part in a Q&A with Music Remedy recently, where the drummer talked about the Sioux Falls, South Dakota band’s decision to release a pair of EPs this year, ‘Abnormalities’ and ‘Realities’. Beck said:
I think the music industry is changing to a more single and EP driven industry where as like it was in the forties and fifties when the Temptations would release a collection of four or five songs every six months or so. In the eighties and nineties, it transitioned into full albums and now with iTunes and everything, it’s just so much easier to buy a three or four buck compilation as opposed to you know ten to twelve bucks so we’re kind of trying it out and seeing how it goes.

The Spill Canvas are extending a personal invitation via video to their fans to join them Thursday, July 8th at 6 PM EST for a special Ustream “covers” concert and chat on Facebook. The Spill Canvas are out with a new lyric video for the song ‘Dust Storm’, off the Sioux Falls, South Dakota alternative rock group’s digital EP ‘Realities’. The band also offered this note to fans:
Spare me a moment of your attention to thank you from the trenches of our hearts if you attended any of the shows on this last run. We had an absolute blast and loved gazing out at your beautiful faces every night. What a treat it was! Shout out to all our boys in New Politics, AM Taxi, and Tyler Hilton.
While we take a breather and prepare for some more road, here’s a little treat to hold you over until we meet again. Enjoy. We heart you.

The Spill Canvas singer Nick Thomas recently did a Q&A for The NJ Underground, where the South Dakota rocker was asked if he prefered headlining tours or supporting larger tours, which they’ll be doing the latter for Goo Goo Dolls and Switchfoot in July and August. Thomas responded:
We love both. Headlining gives us the chance to really showcase what we’re about and what we can do, while supporting another band allows us the chance to tap into an unknown demographic/market and make new fans.
