The Maine Release Third Album ‘Pioneer’

The Maine

Since the inception of The Maine in 2007, they have been releasing music that they were proud of. They toured the world playing songs off their debut album in 2008 (‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’) to last year’s major label effort (‘Black & White’). The Arizona rockers are closing out 2011 with their third studio album titled ‘Pioneer’, released December 6th.

The creation of ‘Pioneer’ was an enlightening experience for the band. They moved into a farm in Gilbert, Arizona to write the songs for the album and came out with over 40 to choose from. After deciding upon which songs would be released on ‘Pioneer’, the band and label had a difference of opinion and decided to release the new album independently on the bands label, Action Theory Records and it would be distributed by Warner. Members John O’Callaghan, Kennedy Brock, Jared Monaco, Garrett Nickelsen and Patrick Kirch stood behind their decision to create and share this album with fans and would not have it any other way.

“This record represents persistence, passion and the failure to give in when all around have given up. Pioneer initially started out as an experiment. In this experiment, we attempted to take the creative process to lengths we had never gone before. We wrote and recorded 9 songs, took them to the powers that be, and were rejected. Instead of allowing this denial to be the end, we decided to take things further. Heading back to El Paso, TX we recorded an additional 17 songs, self-funding & co-producing (along with Colby Wedgeworth) them all while knowing there was a possibility they’d never see the light of day. Through it all, the only thing that kept us going was knowing that our fans were there for us,” says The Maine.

Hard Work Pays Off For The Maine

The Maine rock

John O’Callaghan of The Maine (we’ll guess that’s who it was because the DJ’s never identified the band member) spoke on the phone with Goom Radio’s Zach Sang and The Student Body about their new single ‘Inside of You,’ being on tour, performing live, overseas tour dates, and more. “This tour, we’ve really been able to see a lot of our hard work paying off,” John said. “We’ve been to a lot of places on this tour that we’ve played some of our first shows on our first tour ever to basically no one, and then coming back and selling out shows, it’s been really, really awesome.”

The interview audio at YouTube has since been removed.

The Maine Announce Headlining Tour In Support Of ‘Black & White’

The Maine band

The Maine have announced their first-ever nationwide headlining tour ‘An Evening with The Maine’, sponsored by Alternative Press Magazine, which kicks off July 7th in San Francisco, California and runs through August 27th in Mesa, Arizona. The tour will support the July 13th release of their major label debut album ‘Black & White’. The Howard Benson-produced ‘Black & White’ is the follow-up to their 2008 Fearless Records debut ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’.

Each show will feature a 90-minute set from the Arizona five-piece, followed by an audience-wide meet & greet and photo session for any fan wishing to say hello to the band. This Century will open on the tour, and there will be special guests, giveaways, contests and prizes every night.

“There aren’t a lot of bands that have a deep, one-on-one connection with their fans like The Maine do,” says Alternative Press founder Mike Shea. “These guys work awfully hard writing catchy, long-lasting material for their albums, giving their fan base memorable songs that they’ll have on their ipods for another generation to come.” Of AP’s decision to sponsor ‘An Evening with The Maine’, Shea added, “Being former AP Tour alumni, when they asked us to become involved we felt like it was family reunion. We’re so happy to be involved with this band on this unique small-club tour this summer.”

The Maine has been writing and recording and touring nonstop since they were barely out of high school. Their songs have garnered a collective 77 million plays on MySpace and they have sold 113k albums, 674k digital singles and racked up 1.5 million views on YouTube. The five-piece has been a part of four consecutive sold out tours and spent last summer as a marquee artist on the entire length of the 2009 Van’s Warped Tour.
