Sublime With Rome Is Not Breaking Up

Sublime with Rome have issued the following statement on their website, sublimewithrome.com, in reaction to drummer Bud Gaugh departing the group, which Rome Ramirez and Eric Wilson are saying is a temporary development:

Hey Everyone – it’s definitely been a crazy weekend. There have been some misunderstandings and miscommunication on what exactly is going down with us so we wanted to set the record straight. First off, rest assured that Sublime with Rome is NOT breaking up. Our brother Bud is about to have a baby and, understandingly, taking some time off to be with his family. We couldn’t be happier for him and welcome him back out on the road with us as soon as he needs a break from the diapers and baby bottles. We already have some major touring plans for 2012 that we’ll be announcing very soon so we’ve started talking to a few drummer friends. Which brings us to the second thing… there’s been some talk (and wishful thinking on our part) of bringing in our good friend/drummer extraordinaire Josh Freese, but unfortunately he’s busy with some other commitments and we’re not sure if it could work or not. What we are sure about is how excited we are to hit the road again in the new year and see all of you. You’ve embraced Sublime with Rome and our music, and, at the same time, helped us continue to share the music of Sublime and its legacy, keeping Brad’s music alive. You’re the best. Have a great holiday and see you in 2012.

Sublime With Rome Sign With Fueled By Ramen

Sublime with Rome

Fueled By Ramen has announced its signing of alternative/ska-punk group Sublime with Rome. The California-based combo features drummer Bud Gaugh and bass player Eric Wilson – both founding members of the legendary ska-punk band, Sublime – alongside singer/guitarist Rome.

Currently at work at El Paso, Texas’ Sonic Ranch studio with producer Paul Leary, Sublime with Rome will release their label debut album this summer, with plans for a single to hit radio airwaves later this spring. Details of a North American tour will be announced shortly.

Sublime with Rome singer/guitarist Rome said: “Everything has been going amazing in the studio. The music has been coming along great, and we’re confident that we’re making a record that will stand the test of time. We can’t wait for the fans to hear it, and are already planning a world tour to bring it to them live.”

Troy Nowell-Holmes, widow of original Sublime guitarist/vocalist Bradley Nowell, stated: “Sublime with Rome earned the fans’ approval with their live performances by showing it was never about replacing or forgetting Brad – it was about celebrating the music. And now the next chapter begins. Rome is such a great songwriter and with Bud and Eric’s amazing talent to back him up, Sublime with Rome will thrive and shine in its own right. I can’t wait to hear the new material because I know how talented they all are.”

In related news, Sublime with Rome will be streaming live from the studio on Monday, March 21 at 6pm PST/9PM EST. Fans can access the live stream at the band’s Facebook page and get insight into the recording process behind one of the most anticipated albums of the year.
