Daniel Johns tells Time Off magazine that these days, he hardly sees Silverchair’s first two albums ‘Frogstomp’ and ‘Freakshow’ as their work. “I see them as our high school band,” he explained. “So it’s weird to know that your high school band has sold three or four million records around the world. It’s kind of like from my perspective, I feel like [third album] ‘Neon Ballroom’ was the first record that we made and from there we’ve shown a steady development and from that point it felt like Silverchair, rather than ‘Freakshow’ and ‘Frogstomp’, where they really did feel like just what we were doing when we were kids.” The article at timeoff.com.au has since been removed.

While proud and enthusiastic about the result of three and half months in a Los Angeles studio recording ‘Young Modern’, Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns tells Beat magazine it was a stressful time. Asked why, Johns responded, “A lot of reasons. There were a lot of songs, about 50, that I had to cut back to 12 or whatever, and it took me a long time to pick what songs should be. Also, in the studio I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist. And if it’s not going right, then I tend to pull the plug until it does.”
