People In Planes Head To America To Find Musical Fame

People in Planes guitarist Peter Roberts spoke with Las Vegas City Life about the English band’s unusual bid to find glory in America before they’ve become well-known back home, when normally it’s U.S. acts heading off to the UK to achieve the reverse effect. “We’ve actually done the whole England thing once already,” Roberts said. “Except for Ian (Russell, keyboards), we were all in a band called Tetra Splendour. We gigged for years and never broke. We just never got anyone’s attention. So this time we thought we’d just try a different country.” The full story at has since been removed.

People In Planes On People In Planes

People In Planes singer Gareth Jones, guitarist Peter Roberts, and bassist Kris Blight spoke with for their Coupla Questions feature. Asked why people seem to have a “weird thing for airplanes”, Gareth responded, “Um, because, it’s like weird. You get on a plane and sit in your seat, nice and comfy and looking at this, it’s almost like you’re looking at a little TV. Your brain cannot compute what the hell is outside the window, this 10,000 foot drop. And you just think, ‘I’m sitting nice and cozy in a plane’. And I dunno, I just think that’s friggin’ weird, cause you’re in like a hollowed out tube up in the sky. Like a toilet roll holder in the sky.”
