Operator Please Reflect On 2008

Operator Please checked in with fans on their blog at MySpace on Thursday (December 18). The Australian indie rock group tell readers:

It is so weird that the year is coming to an end.

Not weird but it has been fast… is what I mean. So I am going to take some time to write some stuff and stuff a minor reflection if you will, minor because it’s too hot to sit in this room in one spot. Okay so when I think back of what we have done this year it has been fu**ing heaps, but it’s weird cause it feels like haven’t done much because we actually got some time off. When I have time off I feel like I haven’t done anything – which can be a good thing and a bad thing too.

I am going to take these first paragraphs to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that has supported us. I mean all the people that bothered to come to a show when we were touring the UK/EU/JAPAN/AUS – even if you were there on accident and you just so happened to clap after the songs, thank you very much, it is awesome to go overseas and see people at shows. Especially at the festivals like Glastonbury and all the European festivals, Norway, Melt in Germany. But yeah thank you to the people that came to talk after the show, people that got cd’s, people that were nice in general. It really does mean alot and we are so grateful that we were able to play the festivals and shows and make it to other countries. We would also like to thank all the bands that had us on tour…The Futureheads, Lightspeed Champion and all the other bands we joined on one off shows and were cool to hang out with and no all jaded and cu**y.

Happy Holidays From Operator Please

Operator Please checked in with fans on their blog at MySpace on Monday (December 24) with the following message:

Hello all you awesome skanks!

(don’t take offense to the word “skank” I mean this in the best way possible, I promise)

Hope all has been well and yeah. It has been an awesome year this year and we are happy to say that we have made it home! Finally I remember what it is like to have my mother yelling at me every two seconds, it is quite comforting haaaaaaa. First off I think we would like to thank everybody for the supporting that you have been spoofing our way, very much appreciated, we love you sirs and madams rerry much and secondly we would like to wish everyone a “HAPPY HOLIDAYS” straight from the heart. Be good to your parents and siblings also, you don’t have to listen it was just a thought. I watched Zathura today it is the sequel to Jumanji if any of you remember that from your childhood. Zathura is amazing but I cannot imagine a younger audience enjoying that as it was scary shiiiiiiiat yo.

But nonetheless it’s a rerry good movie. But enough of the bullsh** that I am spraying, just make sure you all have a happy holiday. We shall see you in the new year.

Love OP xo.

Operator Please Were Freaked Out Opening For Arctic Monkeys

During Operator Please’s previous tour of Australia, bassist Ashley McConnell tells Time Off magazine the band were star struck by the headlining act, the Arctic Monkeys. “Coming up to our first show with the Arctic Monkeys, I think we were all kind of freaked out,” she said. “We saw them onstage before a gig just doing a routine sound-check and were like, ‘Oh my god, they’re right there!’ But our first two tours have probably been the biggest, production-wise, as well so I guess it was really good to just see how [Arctic Monkeys] operate and have grown as a band over time. And that was a good thing to see, and you know, we did get to talk to the guys a bit, so it was cool to meet them and talk to them about what it’s like when things start to escalate and stuff like that.” The article at timeoff.com.au has since been removed.
