My Darkest Days bassist Brendan McMillan spoke with The Star Phoenix about catching heat online for being signed to Chad Kroeger’s 604 Records label and being compared to Chad’s band Nickelback, who have been dubbed one of the titans of butt-rock. “I’ll see it sometimes on social networks with snooty comments. It is what it is,” McMillan said. “If you listen to the record all the way through, it doesn’t really sound like Nickelback. The people who love to hate Nickelback are going to say anything they can, but I don’t mind being associated with them. They have legions, hundreds of thousands of fans. That’s not a bad thing, I don’t think.”
My Darkest Days has released the music video to their new single ‘Sick And Twisted Affair’, the title track and second single off the Canadian rock band’s second album, out now on 604 Records. Watch it via YouTube below.
My Darkest Days checked in with their Facebook fans last night to share a rather disgusting tale from the road while on tour with The Veer Union in Dubuque, Iowa at Courtside – the final stop of the mini tour. Guitarist Sal Costa writes:
We definitely broke into The Veer Union’s bus while they were playing and put a pizza that Matt [Walst] and Reid [Henry] sh** on into their oven… Hahaha… Thanks to Doug [Oliver] for breaking in through the window and hoisting me up through. Brilliant!!!
My Darkest Days frontman Matt Walst and guitarist Sal Costa spoke with Loudwire about the band’s second album ‘Sick and Twisted Affair’, the album title inspiration, how it differs from the band’s self-titled debut, the story behind the track ‘Casual Sex’, teaming up with Nickelback, Bush and Seether for a tour, and fan support.
“We toured with Seether for a couple months – really cool dudes,” Walst said in regards to the band’s they’ll be hitting the road with. “Dale [Stewart] is awesome super cool dude, loves to party with us and hang out. Bush, I got to meet Gavin [Rossdale] we played one show with them, STP and Bush, super cool dude – can’t wait to get to know him more, he seems really nice. Our relationship with Nickelback; we’re like their little brother and they help us out. Chad [Kroeger] has taught us so much about writing, how to party, we’ve seen a lot of fun stuff hangin’ out with him.”
