NME spoke with Tom Meighan of Kasabian on the red carpet of the Shockwaves NME Awards 2009, where the vocalist discussed his belief the award he’s giving out for best British band would go to Oasis (he was right), hoping so since they were shut out at the Brits. Tom also praised The Cure, who picked up the 2009 Godlike Genius award. “What they do is fu**ing amazing,” he said. “They’re the first emo. Before emo was born. The deserve it.
