Ian Brown revealed to ITN that he’s a fan of hip hop mogul Jay-Z. The former Stone Roses frontman also said he’s not tired of people asking about his former group. “The Roses might have gotten me through the door to get a record contract, but if my songs were rubbish I wouldn’t still be here,” Brown said. “I’ve got seven different records on the shelves under my own name.” Watch the brief interview via YouTube below.

Former Stone Roses singer Ian Brown wasn’t happy with E4 host Steve Jones and let him know it at this weekend’s Carling Live 24 event. After sarcastically asking the singer to show off his martial arts, an eyewitness revealed, “Steve was offering to move a table so Ian could perform his moves. Ian took offence and asked Steve: ‘Do you want me to hit you here or over there?’ He then walked out of the interview. And things were just as bad between them when the cameras stopped rolling.”

Ian Brown Proud Of Stone Roses Days

Reminded of his time fronting the Stone Roses, singer Ian Brown stops and sighs. “I often think they were the best days, them early days,” Brown tells Time Off magazine. “We’d played together for so long that we were really, really tight. I think that’s why we were so successful when we did break through. But yeah, I am proud of what we achieved. There’s not a lot of culture here [in England], y’know. Like, tea comes from China, y’know what I mean? We were able to contribute something to the culture here. Not many people can say that.”
