Chart Attack spoke with Hoobastank frontman Doug Robb who talked about the music he likes, and mentioned Coldplay. “I’m a very big fan of their Parachutes album. It’s a great way to relax at night ’cause it’s got some amazing songs on it,” he said. Meanwhile, he wasn’t too impressed with the likes of Limp Bizkit saying, “There are some rap-rock acts that I like mildly, but never full albums, and never much. I was never really a fan of rap-rock at all.”
Ben O’Brien of Georgetown Univercity’s TheHoya.com reviewed the self-titled debut of Orange County rockers Hoobastank giving it good marks for “providing a sound that transcends musical genres.” O’Brien says of ‘Hoobastank’, “Robb sounds like he’s singing directly to you when you listen to him. Consequently, the songs often seem like pop songs set to the background of loud rock. However, that loud rock sound is just as much in the foreground as Robb’s impressive vocals, helping to make the melodies more appealing instead of distorting them.” Thehoya.com has since removed the article.

Jim Farber of The New York Daily News spoke with Hoobastank frontman Doug Robb about the flurry of signings in Orange County after the success of Linkin Park and Incubus, which led to the signing of his band. Valerie Nome of Katrillion was on hand at the Hoobastank show last Friday at the Bowery Ballroom in New York where Nome says the band proved themselves worthy of the hype, though she may have been hormonally influenced as she admitted, “In fact, Bush’s Gavin Rossdale and Creed’s Scott Stapp may be facing new competition in the rock-god category. Hoobastank hotties Dan Estrin and Robb are beyond babelicious.”
Hoobastank revealed to Hits Daily Double their top 10 ways of killing time on the tour bus, which include:

Scolding the cyclops

James Wright of Shout Web talked with Hoobastank frontman Doug Robb about the band’s constant comparisons to Incubus where he replied, “I think people that don’t really know Incubus or us really well will make the comparison. I’ve heard people say, ‘I heard ‘Crawling In The Dark’ and thought it was Incubus’ but I think if you’re big fan of Incubus than you’ll know the difference.” Robb added, “I love those guys and have known them forever so I don’t mind the comparison because we’re being compared to a band I respect and love.” The full interview at shoutweb.com has since been removed.
Get Real Detroit talked with Hoobastank’s Dan Estrin about his hopes for bands like his and his friend’s Incubus getting major radioplay going into the coming year. There’s going to be a lot of singing and melodies and really good bands coming out next year.” Getrealdetroit.com has since removed the article.
