NME talked to Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn who says his Blur bandmates are learning to tolerate his Gorillaz project. Albarn says, “They’ve got used to it. They’ve got to get used to it. We’re recording the new Blur album now. It’ll be good. We wouldn’t put it out if it wasn’t.” Blur and Gorillaz both plan on albums next year, with the Gorillaz CD being a soundtrack to their debut movie.
Upon winning the Best Dance Act award at the 2001 MTV Europe Awards in Frankfurt on Thursday, Gorillaz & Blur singer Damon Albarn lashed out at military actions in Afghanistan saying, “Fu** the music, see this symbol here, this is the symbol for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. Bombing one of the poorest countries in the world is wrong. It’s wrong so you’ve got a voice and you’ve got to do what you can about it.”
Res.com talked to the Jamie Hewlett penned and Damon Albarn animated band Gorillaz where Hewitt admits, “All of my characters end up looking like zombies – I think I’m determined to turn into one myself.”
The MTV Europe Music Awards have been announced and The Gorrilaz lead the way with 6 nominations for the show that will be held November 8 in Frankfurt, Germany. Other rock acts up for awards include Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, REM, and U2.
NME is reporting the the Gorillaz were furious after the animated band spent $30,000 creating an acceptance speech clip for their ‘Clint Eastwood’ hit only to find out Mudvayne instead won the MTV2 award for their ‘Dig’ single. The Gorillaz are led by Blur singer Damon Albarn.
Perhaps the most obvious proof yet the VMAs are fixed… but it appears sometimes mistakes are made in the ‘manufactured’ process.
