Chris Martin Defends Giving Kids Unusual Baby Names

Coldplay singer Chris Martin is speaking out to Blender magazine about he and wife Gwyneth Paltrow’s decision to name their son Moses and daughter Apple after a reader suggested (sarcastically?) she and her husband were having their first baby and thinking of naming it Papaya, Chewbacca and Sandal. “People make a big fuss over names,” the 31-year-old said. “Names of babies, names of albums, names of bands. There’s nothing weird about calling your baby Chewbacca if that’s what you want to call your baby. It’s no stranger than Sarah.” Martin added, “A name is just a noise, and if you like it, then fu** what everyone else says.”

Coldplay Return From Recording In Sunny Spain

Coldplay drummer Will Champion checked in with fans on the band’s blog at Myspace on Monday (July 23). He writes, “Hello, we’ve just got back from Spain where we’ve been recording some vocals. It was very hot and very beautiful. We returned to find England under water. Is it just me or does it feel like the world is ending? While we are all still here, there is great music to be listened to: Eugene Francis Jnr. Something to lighten up your day whilst contemplating life in a wet suit. Love, Will”
