Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro say they’d want other nominated band The xx to win the Barclaycard Mercury Prize if they don’t. “I think it’s particularly exciting this year because there is brand new bands like xx, Mumford & Sons, you got Laura Marling that’s got a couple records out. We’ve gone for ages and it’s nice there’s a band like us in there and you’ve got Paul Weller is like an icon. Then you have Dizzee doing his pop stuff, and you’ve got jazz Kit Downes Trio. It’s just a really kind of exciting prospect this year if we can win, because it’s got bands from every genre.” He added that he’d like to see The xx win “because I think for young teenagers making a really sophisticated record like that is really amazing.”
