Brian Johnson: Bono Should Do His Charity Work In Private

AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson isn’t impressed with the charity work done by musical peers like Bono of U2 and Bob Geldof, preferring to donate in private. “I do it myself, I don’t tell everybody I’m doing it,” Johnson told the Herald Sun. “I don’t tell everybody they should give money – they can’t afford it. When I was a working man I didn’t want to go to a concert for some bastard to talk down to me that I should be thinking of some kid in Africa. I’m sorry mate, do it yourself, spend some of your own money and get it done. It just makes me angry. I become all tyrannical.”

Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins spoke with Entertainment Weekly about AC/DC's move to sell their latest album 'Black Ice' via a partnership with Wal-Mart, a decision that helped the veteran Aussie rockers debut at #1 on the Billboard charts. "I've heard literally 25 to 30 commercials for AC/DC; that's the most amount of energy I've heard about an AC/DC record in 20 years," Corgan said at the Guitar Hero: World Tour launch party. "Because the labels weren't gonna do that. They treat a band like AC/DC with a sort of reverant distance. Throw it out there and if it clicks, great. If not, they'd bury it. So great for AC/DC and great for Wal-Mart."
