Steve Lamacq of Radio 1 chatted with the guys from System of a Down and asked what signals success for them. The response: “It is nothing to do with commercial success or number of units sold. We’ve already achieved our goals and we can stop right now. When we made the album that was success right there. We didn’t need to be on the airwaves or have packed crowds. Our goal was not to be popular – it was to make good music and play and have a good time together. Everything else was secondary to that.” Audio at bbc.co.uk/radio1 has since been removed.
