System Don’t Want To Sound Like Themselves Let Alone Others
Alan Sculley of The Detroit News spoke with System of a Down’s Daron Malakian who admitted to the lengths the band goes to creating a unique sound. Malakian said, “We always try to listen to make sure we don’t hear even a single riff that reminds us of someone else. As John Lennon said, ‘Everything comes from everything else.’ But it doesn’t have to sound that way. That’s what I just added. So we pay close attention to make sure that we’re not really, really touching upon anything too heavily. And just be conscious of it. We don’t even want to sound like our own songs, let alone other people.” Detnews.com has since removed the article.
