Switchfoot Mature On ‘The Beautiful Letdown’

Switchfoot’s latest, ‘The Beautiful Letdown’, has a considerably more optimistic flow and feel to the tunes than the bleakly insular ‘Legend Of Chin’. A case of older, wiser? “Yeah, well hopefully we’ve matured a little,” vocalist/guitarist Jon Foreman tells Australia’s Beat magazine. “The first record came out a couple of days after my brother graduated from high school and we’ve pretty much hit the road ever since. I really think that there’s this natural progression that you have to have as a rock band. It’s not a dark album but it talks about dark things that have happened to me. A lot of the songs are about the hope that’s deeper than the wound.”
