Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey explained to Chart magazine why the group allowed ‘Alright’ to be used in a credit card commercial. “We try not to do too much of that. But to us, ‘Alright’ is so old and we don’t really play the song anymore. So we don’t really like it too much,” he explained. “We have a history of not really doing that (licensing songs). We did have a song on a make-up advert a few years ago, though. We don’t want to put ourselves in a position where we’re not in control, because we’re all control freaks. It is a bit sad to make loads of money and just have your music plastered around products that have nothing to do with your life. We’ve never been into that. Your band becomes advert music.” Chartattack.com has since removed the article.
