Sum 41’s Prime Directive Is Still Loud And Raw Music
Despite Sum 41’s new single ‘The Hell Song,’ about a friend of vocalist/guitarist Deryck Whibley’s diagnosed as HIV positive, the band’s prime directive is still to make music that’s loud, raw and infested with juvenile humor. “We all went in knowing that we wanted to make an album that sounded a lot different from the last one,” drummer Steve Jocz tells Rod Harmon of the Bradenton Herald. “But the last thing we wanted to do was put out the record and six months down the line, say, ‘Dude, what the (expletive) have we done?'”
