Sum 41 Embrace Inner Metalhead Tendencies
Alan Sculley of Cincinnati CityBeat spoke with Sum 41 drummer Steve ‘Stevo 32′ Jocz who talked about the band’s latest effort, ‘Does This Look Infected?’, and it’s move towards more metal. “We always like to try new stuff,” Jocz says, addressing the shift in the Sum 41 sound. “A lot of bands are kind of nervous about doing that kind of thing, where they know something works and they want to stick with it. But we’re pretty convinced that if we did the same thing over again, I don’t know how many people would be into it. We’d like to grow a bit, so we figured that heavy was the way to go, because that’s what we kind of listen to. That’s sort of what came out. That’s what we have the most fun playing.”
