Stephan Jenkins Talks ‘Out of the Vein’
Entertainment Today spoke with Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins to talk about the group’s third album ‘Out of the Vein’. Asked about the overt way Jenkins addresses matters of sex and drugs quite overtly in his lyrics, Jenkins responded, “I don’t think that I’m any more overt than the average content of a novel. I don’t really take drugs. I like middle class drugs. I like coffee and cigarettes and alcohol [but] I don’t smoke cigarettes anymore because they’re bad for you. I know it’s not very rock ’n’ roll. Drugs are sort of a metaphor [in my songs]: the pornography of them, the eroticism of them, the sense of being out of control, of need, of addiction… I use them to access those kinds of things.” Ent-today.com has since shut down.

I am gonna call BS on this one. Semi-charmed life is clearly written from the perspective of someone who has used meth before. However, it is cool that he doesn’t want to go out of his way to glamorize drugs though.
