Staind’s Sound — Not Presence — Moves Crowd
Blair R. Fischer of the Chicago Tribune was on hand for the Staind concert at Aragon Ballroom Thursday night (November 20). Fischer said, “If the music doesn’t move you at a Staind show, nothing will. That’s not necessarily high praise. Rather, it’s a comment on the neo-grunge outfit’s or, rather, frontman Aaron Lewis’ complete lack of stage presence. Whereas other bands of Staind’s ilk (Korn, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson) perform a virtual calisthenics routine in concert and allow the crowd to feed off their frenzy, this pated, potbellied frontman and band centerpiece paces the stage as if he’s in line at the bank.” Chicagotribune.com has since removed the article.
