Spoofing MP3 Tracks Is A Stupid Idea

David Kushner of Rolling Stone reports and opines on how record labels have unleashed fake or looped tracks of the new album sounds on various P2P services using the help of Overpeer and other companies. Kushner writes, “Once again, rather than creatively exploiting the passion of music fans online, the labels are pissing off the very consumers who keep them in business. The record execs have every right to make money and protect their interests, but they’re going about this in increasingly misguided ways.” Rollingstone.com has since removed the article.
