Powerman 5000 frontman Spider One is surprisingly circumspect about rock stardom. “It’s all wonderful, and people are screaming your name, and they think you’re great, and this and that,” he explained to Sandy Masuo of Launch.com. “That’s cool and flattering and it’s nice to know you’re connecting with them, that what you’re doing is having an effect on people, but to me that’s not really the payoff. The payoff is the satisfaction of knowing you’ve done something kind of – I’m not going to say it’s important in the grand scheme of things, but just creating something from scratch is a satisfying process. And to be able to make a living at it is mind-blowing.”
