Slipknot’s Crahan Admits Concern About Crazed Fans
Known for their extreme live shows and equally extreme fans, Beat magazine asked Slipknot co-founder and percussionist Shawn Crahan (aka Clown) how the death of Dimebag Darrell Abbott has affected him and if he has ever been scared. “I’d be a liar if I didn’t say I was concerned every day of my life, but I was concerned before that happened,” he responded. “What am I supposed to do, quit? I represent them; I’m here to help them. Hopefully someone like myself can prevent something like that ever happening. Hopefully our fans want to talk, hopefully they want to work it out, hopefully they reach out. You have to understand that we live in a very severe world, okay, I wonder if people think about that when they think about Dimebag, I wonder if they think about how brutal this world is to people we don’t even know. But because famous people and other people are victims, everyone does stop and pay attention a little bit.”
