Victor R. Martinez of the El Paso Times spoke to Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta about the big break that came their way when the band met the members of Slipknot in 2000. “We went from playing basements and VFW halls to playing arena shows with them,” Jasta said. “It was unreal. We were used to really intense live shows where we had the kids right in front of us singing along. Now we were playing to 10,000 people. It was a real challenge for me to get that energy out of a crowd that was 15 feet away and behind a barrier.”
