Silverstein’s Not An Overnight Success, Singer Insists
Silverstein’s latest album, ‘When Broken Is Easily Fixed’, has made the Australian scene sit up and take notice, but singer Shane Told wholeheartedly disagrees with the contention they’ve become an overnight success. “It was fairly hard,” Told tells Beat magazine. “We were this tiny band from Canada that no one in the US had heard of before and we put out this record on a US label, drove our crappy band around and people started liking us. It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t overnight. But I’m a firm believer in the idea that if you work hard, are respectful and a good person, things will work out for you. It seems that a lot of people don’t understand that we came from such a slow progression over time. People came up and say, ‘I heard your stuff yesterday’, and others say, ‘I heard of you four years ago.’ It’s all over the map.”
