MuchMusic spoke to Garbage singer Shirley Manson who was in Toronto on Friday to kick off the band’s North American tour. Manson made a $100,000 donation to Fashion Cares on behalf of the M.A.C. AIDS Fund as well. The singer commented, “I grew up in a city (Edinburgh, Scotland) that has been rifed with HIV and AIDS. Towards the end of the 80s, it was known as the AIDS capital of Europe. I grew up with this problem. I’ve lost friends to the disease. I have friends currently living with the HIV virus. It was kind of just a natural fit. And I love make-up.”
