Shirley Manson Credits Modeling Experience

Garbage singer Shirley Manson tells the December issue of Glamour magazine that her stint as a model changed her life. The singer suffered from body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), a disease in which sufferers are convinced they are unattractive, since she was a child. She credits the use of a non makeup wearing photo of her in a Calvin Klein ad to changing her feelings about her looks. Manson said, “I realised that the picture would go all over the world, into every fashion magazine. If everyone had seen me with no make-up on, there was nothing to hide. And, I like the photograph. I looked… sweet.”
