Launch.com caught up with Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson who has been named patron of Scotland’s largest HIV charity, Waverley Care, based in her home city of Edinburgh. Manson will work to raise awareness of HIV and the organization, which offers care and support to patients, relatives, and friends affected by AIDS and HIV. “I was called upon by a former lover who said I should really go and get checked out and it was absolutely terrifying,” she revealed. “I mean, I think to be faced with the possibility of living with something like HIV or AIDS is scary enough, but when you take into account the amount of ignorance out there and the amount of fear, it sort of compounds the whole concept of misery that’s involved.”
