The Glasgow Daily Record reports Scottish singers Sharleen Spiteri of Texas and Shirley Manson of Garbage said there were not enough Scots performers at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Sharleen said, “We feel like the token Scots. It is a pity there are no more Scottish people here on stage. We are few but strong.” Both denied they’d wanted to perform at the event. Shirley said: “I’m relieved I’m not performing,” but Sharleen said: “I don’t think am relieved. Talking is not the greatest thing I do and this is a kind of weird event. After all, what other British women are performing tonight?”
