Rob Halford Never Got The Gay Backlash He Feared

Rob Halford tells The Indianapolis Star he didn’t reveal he was gay while with Judas Priest because he believed a potential backlash could have hurt the band’s status, but Halford said the negative feedback from fans never arrived. “We separate ourselves, don’t we? When you go to the office, you’re a different person, basically,” Halford said. “That’s the way it is in all walks of life. I didn’t really, on a personal level, put much into it. I’m still able to do that now. I was just in Wal-Mart just a few minutes ago getting things for the bus. You have to be able to get offstage. It’s when you can’t get offstage is when the madness begins. You have to be able to live your own life away from work.”
