Kevin Raub of the New York Post spoke by phone with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo from Japan. Rivers talked about taking over publicity duties for the group following the controversy surrounding his radio leak of ‘Maladroit’ and the subsequent letter he was convinced into writing by Geffen. After Cuomo say an article in Spin saying that they never asked him to recall the CD, he flipped out and canned his publicist who was employed by Geffen. “At that point, it just became clear that there was a conflict of interest there if our publicist is actually employed by our record company – the very group we are having a problem with,” he said.
