Dan Aquilante of the New York Post reviewed the concert at Jones Beach on Friday (October 3). He writes, “Whether it’s a new outlook on life – [frontman Michael] Stipe, a performer who can be moody and dark in concert – was animated and totally entertaining during this open-air concert on a chilly night. During ‘Man on the Moon’, his tribute to the late comic Andy Kaufman, Stipe’s gestures were wide and campy in a vaudevillian way. It was strange to see, but ultimately it felt appropriate to the song.” The full review at nypost.com has since been removed.
