Pete Wentz tells The New York Post reports he was tired of clubs with strict door policies and pretentious, uptight atmosphere and wanted to launch the East Village bar Angels & Kings as a place for his pals to kick back. “It’s different when you want to bring your friends to a place… and maybe we’re just not cool enough to get in,” the Fall Out Boy bassist explained. “We really just want someplace where we can hang out and be ourselves.” Asked if his bandmates will be in attendance, Wentz said, “Yeah, I’m just gonna be local and drink umbrella drinks. It will be a bit of a dive, which we need.” Yellow Fever clothing designer Jamison Ernest, a co-owner of the club along with Wentz and Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy, added that his vision for the bar was “a place that anyone can go and have sex in the bathroom and not get in trouble.”
