Pete Doherty Explains Why He Didn’t Play Gig
Radio 1 reports that former Libetines frontman Pete Doherty has apologized to fans he let down Monday night (August 2) by not playing at London’s Barfly. He has issued a statement saying his guitar tech wasn’t allowed in and he thought the bouncer was aggressive. “We have played at venues up and down the country on this tour, some of which had no security, and have encountered no problems or witnessed any aggression,” Doherty said. “I simply asked the bouncer last night to apologize for his behavior, three times in fact, and he refused. I was very upset at his attitude and although I’m very sorry for letting everyone down last night, I refuse to play at venues where pumped up, 16 stone men feel the need to be aggressively rude and to bully teenage kids around.”
