Papa Roach Has Moved Beyond Rap-Rock

Launch.com caught up with Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix (formerly Coby Dick) on the band’s evolving sound on their new ‘lovehatetragedy’ album which drops June 18th. Shaddix said, “Rap-metal just kinda puts like a time limit on your band, you know? If you just go, ‘OK, we’re a rap-metal band,’ then that’s the time limit for your band, you know? Even since we started we just, like, kinda wanted to know ourselves as a, like a rock band. On this record we kind of proved that rock side of our band more, and, like, I think that will give us a little more longevity with the band, just coming down to not writing the same record twice.”
