Unified Theory’s Formation From Two Great Bands

Rock Online talked to Unified Theory members Christopher Thorne [ex Blind Melon] Dave Krusen [ex Pearl Jam] about the roots of their band. “We are trying extremely hard to separate because it’s just unfair to even compare the two. You just can’t take two guys from one band and say “Oh, it’s just like that other band”. I mean, it’s just unfair to the three other guys. It was a conscious effort when i first met Chris. Chris said , “Hey, you know, I don’t want to be the new singer for your band.” And I said great, I don’t want you to. This was never meant to be the continuation of Blind Melon. It’s a whole new project. We started the band that way and we continue to think that way.”

Julian Casablancas Talks Hype

Privy Magazine talked to Strokes singer Julian Casablancas who gave his opinion on the hype surrounding his band saying “It’s a tool that the press has to sell something that isn’t really accessible, and I guess journalists need to sell their magazines. If they write about things that people can’t tune into very easily, they fear they’re not going to sell their magazine. So they need this hype, this explosive story so that people will get caught into it.”

Fear Factor Host Meets Morello

Fear Factor host and comedian Joe Rogan posted on his unlikely encounter with both Survivior host Jeff Probst and Rage Against the Machine Guitarist Tom Morello. The admittedly ‘baked’ Rogan says of his burrito stand encounter, “The dude was just sitting around shooting the sh** with us, like just some regular guy. Here he is, one of the baddest f***ing guitarists that has ever walked the face of the planet, and literally the man had absolutely no pretension whatsoever. He could have easily just been some cool bartender or something.”
